Community Projects

We are actively involved in various community projects, focusing on beautification, education, and environmental stewardship. These projects range from creating and maintaining community and public spaces to supporting environmental initiatives. Our goal is to give back to the community and beautify public spaces.

Community Partnerships

In 2024, we partnered with Floriopolis in St. Andrews to create a paper flower exhibit based on the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett as part of our District 2 Garden Club meeting.  The three day event was enjoyed by the community and not only featured paper flowers but vegetable and flower seed planting demonstrations and information.

Beautifying Panama City

Join us in enhancing the beauty of Panama City through our Community Landscape Projects. Our Landscaping Committee works with the City to  plant and maintain the downtown Harrison Avenue planters, adding color and vibrancy to the heart of Panama City.

Plant-a-Tree (formerly Penny Pines)

The National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the USDA Forest Service have maintained a partnership sustaining our national forests through the Plant-A-Tree program.

Our club participates in the Plant-a-Tree program with the National Garden Club and the USDA Forest Service. Plant-A-Tree, formerly known as Penny Pines is a reforestation and forest education program. All contributions help the Forest Service to plant trees across the national forest system where reforestation is needed most - the places most impacted by wildfires, flooding, drought and other forest disturbances.

Arbor Day

In Florida, Arbor Day is celebrated on the third Friday in January.  January 16, 2026 is the date for next year. January is chosen because it's a cooler time of year in Florida, making it ideal for planting trees. While National Arbor Day is celebrated in April, Florida's early January celebration allows trees to establish their roots before the hotter, drier spring months.

Our Arbor Day observance is held to promote the importance of planting trees. We also memorialize our deceased members by the tree planting.

Bay Memorial Park

The Panama City Garden Club is part of Bay Memorial Park. Bay Memorial Walking Park is a lighted nature park of over 13 acres.

This park was dedicated to service men and women from Bay County who sacrificed their lives for this country. Over the years, the club has helped bring this tract of land from wilderness to a park. The City maintains the park and improvements are ongoing.

Memorial Wall

A Memorial Wall was added to the park in 1999 by the City of Panama City and the Panama City Garden Club to honor the brave men and women from Bay County who lost their lives in the service of their country.

On Memorial Day, the Club holds a service and places wreaths in memory of our war veterans.

Blue Star Marker

Blue Star Memorial Markers is a National Garden Clubs initiative. This historic National Garden Clubs, Inc. program began in 1945 and continues  today as a most important public display of our Federated Garden Clubs' support,  respect, and honor for our military  services.

Panama City has two markers. The first one is located on US 98 (15th St.) at the intersection with US 231 west of Harrison St., Panama City.  The second one is located on US 98 at Tyndall Airforce Base just north of Tyndall Drive gate, Panama City. The club takes care of the marker's upkeep.
